Read my previous review if you need anything more in depth, but the extra modes (that are also added to other versions) provide whole new ways to play. The addictive gameplay is great if you can find a consistent set of gamers to play with, whether you are after the competitive gameplay or want to create a challenging level for your friends or online opponents to take on. Ultimate Chicken Horse on Switch offers the same crazy party fun and online challenge modes as previous releases but adds all of the benefits of Switch portability. With no achievement system on Switch there isn't much penalty to doing this instead of working your way up. On other systems this would seal off achievements. It still works here and unlocks the new content as well. Knowing the "Chimply Amazing" bonus stuff would likely come after unlocking everything else with bare-bones startup, I searched and found the "unlock everything" code used on previous versions. While new levels pop up, most of the outfit and character unlocks come from finding "mystery boxes" in the levels and those have been few and far between. In the time my kids have rigorously played the game together on PS4, they really haven't unlocked a lot. It is the ideal place for a console owner to get it as a first-time purchase with the split Joy-Con adding an instant second controller, but I'd have liked to have seen some touchscreen functionality in handheld mode. It may not be worth the double-dip if you already own the title unless the portable aspect is that big of a draw to you. There's plenty more added to the game that makes it a meatier experience, but these updates are coming to other systems as well. It makes for some fun precreated levels, but not for the slapdash party modes. While I dig the new boxes, I don't like how the crumbling boxes don't restore after a run. New modes add a whole new dimension to gameplay, such as a flat race mode that places scores solely on finish order, or limiting weapons to a particular set. The game also adds new blocks, such as a crumbling block and an interactive boxing glove you can activate mid-level to wallop someone hot on your tail. Within, there is an extra chimp character, new levels, and PC/Switch cross play. Take look at the console launch announcement trailer below and let us know if you’ll be picking up Ultimate Chicken Horse on the PlayStation 4.For the Switch release, a new "Chimply Amazing" update has been added. It’s a shame that they could not include cross-play between all the consoles, but perhaps that will be worked out in time. Much like Super Mario Maker on the Wii U, Ultimate Chicken Horse could become an avenue for creative folks to show their wares. The inclusion of a proper Challenge Mode adds a considerable amount of single-player content as well. It’s a fun game to play with friends and see who is the most sadistic, and best at platforming. Throughout development, the silly, but challenging nature of the game has not changed. Ultimate Chicken Horse first launched on PC on March 4th, 2016 after a successful Kickstarter. Take a ride on the paper air plane of victory! Clever Endeavour have cited “security concerns and policy guidelines on the part of the platform holders,” as the reason. Unfortunately, this cross-play won’t be featured on the Xbox One and is unconfirmed for the Switch at this time. Ultimate Chicken Horse will feature cross-play between PS4 and PC. The final bit of information was in regards to cross-play. The other level takes place in a volcano and, you guessed it, features hot lava. The Jungle Temple level features deadly spikes and a mysterious sun token. The biggest addition, however, is probably the inclusion of two new levels. As well as a variety of new block types like a wrecking ball, spikes triggered by pressure, and a machine that throws paper airplanes you can ride on. Ultimate Chicken Horse for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is a new release, but the original version of the game made its debut for PC over a year and a half ago. Other significant announcements included the addition of a new character, an elephant. The leader boards will be cross-platform, so there will be plenty of hair pulling to go around. In addition to launching on PS4, they’re also updating the game with a new “Challenge Mode.” The Challenge Mode is a variation on the Free Play Mode that allows players to share their levels and keep track of who has the best times. They made this announcement, as well as some new content announcements, on their blog. Developer Clever Endeavour have announced that the PS4 version will be launching on December 12th, with the Xbox One and Switch versions arriving shortly thereafter. The wacky yet challenging co-op obstacle course builder/platformer is coming to the PlayStation 4.
